PERMITS

Your project may require a permit.  If you are within the city limits of Myrtle Beach, Conway, North Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Marion, Mullins, Loris or Georgetown a fence permit is required.  Horry County also requires a building permit for any fence over 7’ tall, and any fence proposed to be placed in a county drainage easement.  Georgetown County generally does not require fence permits.  Goode Fence will gladly handle all permit paperwork.  Learn more about permits and applicable forms here.

BUILDING AND POOL CODES

Depending on authority, there are building codes which regulate where a fence may be placed on your property, how tall that fence can be and how that fence is built.  If you have a pool, there are specific building codes related to fence – whether a home or commercial building.  Additionally, SCDHEC department of ocean resource management also has codes and regulations impacting fences installed adjacent to the beach.  You can learn more here.

UTILITY LOCATING

State law requires any contractor who is going to excavate secure a utility locate.  Utility locates only identify buried PUBLIC utilities (those coming from the street to your building or home).  PRIVATE utilities (including irrigation lines and gas lines from buried tanks to your building) require identification by others.  Goode Fence is not responsible for private utilities not located prior to our work.  Learn more about utility locating here.
